Pet of the Month: Famous Amos (March 2019)

Date: March 11, 2019 Author: adm Categories: Blog 0

Amos, better known as Famous Amos was rescued over eight years ago from the Baldwin Park Shelter. Dr. MacCorkle began to treat Amos for recurring seasonal seizures about two years after he was adopted. Using acupuncture, a variety of herbs, and a lot of TLC, Amos has thrived over the last eight years. But, Amos’ seizures would not be the only thing he needed treatment for. Just over a year ago, Amos began to show signs of increased liver proteins, lethargy, and anorexia. Dr. MacCorkle worked with her teams of specialists both at Healing Touch Veterinary group and colleagues outside to determine that Amos had a rare condition called Wilson’s disease in which his body held in the mineral copper, consequently slowly killing his liver. With Dr. MacCorkle’s care, Amos was able to recover fully from this horrible disease. Between the unique combination of Eastern medicine together with advanced allopathic specialty care, which is better known as integrative medicine, Amos lives today with a smile on his face, a pep in his step and a healthy appetite not only for food, but for life! At 10 years old, Amos can’t wait to take on the world, one day at a time!
